Believe it or not, Elphame Jewels was conceived on a dare. Yep, that's right, a dare. One afternoon, as my best friend and I were flipping through countless fashion magazines, coveting all the gorgeous jewellery we could never find or afford, it struck me that, if I put my mind to it, I could re-create the pieces we so admired.

"I could make that necklace.", I said.

"Really?", she questioned with doubt.

"Sure, why not?", I replied.

"Ok, I dare you!".

Never being one to turn down a dare, I put into practice my natural craftiness (stubbornness) and creativity (stubbornness) and made the necklace. Well, you know how these things go, my friend told her friend who then told her friend and soon enough I was making custom-ordered jewellery in all styles and colours.

Over the last couple of years, several of my dearest friends have married. After spending numerous, and sometimes torturous, hours in bridal boutiques, I noticed how few jewellery options were available for hip and fashion-conscious brides. Seeing their faces light up when I was able to create unique pieces to perfectly complement their wedding and bridesmaid dresses made me realize how rewarding this work could be.

Long story short - I'm a self-taught designer and make all my own pieces. I gather new and unique materials on my travels and use my knowledge of semi-precious gemstones and their qualities to select only the highest quality material.
